The story of Borgen Tax
Borgen Tax was founded in Amsterdam in 2014 by tax professionals with a different vision on consulting.
What began as a boutique firm has grown into today's Borgen Tax, in which we combine the agility and personal attention of our start-up roots with the global reach and technical excellence of an international network. We remain independent and focus exclusively on tax, allowing us to provide conflict-free advice without audit-related constraints.
Our growth reflects our commitment to lasting partnerships with clients who value expertise, responsiveness and strategic thinking in their tax issues. This commitment earned us recognition in Chambers Global 2025, Recommended Firm status in ITR World Tax 2025 and excellent rankings in ITR World Tax 2026.
Bar Registration
The lawyers mentioned below have registered the following principal (and secondary) fields of law in the legal practice areas register of the Dutch Bar Association:
a. Jimmie van der Zwaan is registered for the principal field of Tax Law;
b. Martijn Jaegers is registered for the principal field of Tax Law;
c. Sander Michaël is registered for the principal field of Tax Law.
On the basis of this registration, they are required, in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association, to obtain ten training credits each calendar year in each registered principal field of law.
Third-party funds
Borgen does not maintain a third‑party funds account (trust account / client account) and is therefore not in a position to receive, hold or administer any client funds on behalf of the client.
